you never know what is going to lead to what
As a photojournalist, I am always documenting the world around me. I love photographing the people I care about. I always try to give people pictures that I take, because I know they love and appreciate them. I shoot at parties, I photograph my friend's kids, I take portraits in the magic driveway (future post on this coming soon), I try to capture moments in life.
This week while waiting with my daughter in the ortho's office, I was thumbing through the pages of Architectural Digest when I saw one of my photographs in the magazine.
A portrait that I had taken at a casual party, (that i made copies of for the family) was shared with someone whose house is beautiful enough to be featured in the March 2010 Architectural Digest. My picture is framed and on the shelf (completely visible) in the room with the piano and the gorgeous purple chair.
Seeing my photograph in Architectural Digest thrilled me. It is a good reminder. You never know what is going to lead to what.

the spirit of blogging
Blogging is a whole new world for me. I am inspired by all the information that is available because of blogging.
What moves me most is the spirit of the bloggers. Sharing things. Telling things. Inspiring people. Teaching skills. Engaging communities. Giving information. Giving of themselves. People are open and informative. They are real and exposed.They are engaging the world through their blogs. I am really enjoying the process and the product.
In my opinion, blogging is making the world a friendlier place. I like that. A lot.
lemon chicken
Use chicken with the skin on. Brown it in a heavy skillet on the stove top to crisp it up. You can also brown some of the sliced up lemons. Put it in a roasting pan with potatoes or other vegetables, pour in a full can of lemonade concentrate (do not add water), drizzle with olive oil, season with salt and pepper and fresh garlic, and cook until golden and delicious. It is delicious!

can you imagine?
Can you imagine if this was your job?
My husband is an ensemble member with Lookingglass Theatre Company in Chicago and for the past two years, our daughter has gone to their summer camp. We have great friends who have this great apartment in the Hancock tower and they let us stay there. One morning I heard a noise outside and there he was - the window cleaner dangling outside my window.
Look at this guy. Standing on this platform 85 floors up the side of the Hancock tower -doing his job.
i am in awe and fear at the same time.

cpeshlist things
My daughter has a shelf in her room where she keeps her most prized possessions. One day she took my label maker (one of my most prized possessions) and made a label to tape on the shelf.
May we all have a place to display and honor the speshlist things in our lives.
photo exhibit of my vintage work
My good friend Michele fell in love with one of my vintage photographs (from when I traveled as a student) and she said she wanted it blown up BIG!
SO for her birthday, I enlarged the photo to 20 X 24 and had it framed for her. Making it bigger, brought a whole new life to the photo.

i am not doing enough
I am not doing enough for God, my daughter decided and she said she wants to go to church.
What kind of church do you want, I asked.
She answered that she wants a place to worship, without labels (non denomination), to serve god. She is nine and she already has it figured out.
I worship her and her spirit.
