Hundertwasser Inspired Project
This ended up being one of the most beautiful and stunning projects we've done so far. We learned a professional masking technique using acrylic medium. We also worked organically using 3 natural symbols as our foundation. We tried different media as well, soluble oil pastels, regular oil pastels, and acrylics. We also explored Hundertwasser creative philosophy and had debates about his formula for happiness: Nature+Beauty=Happiness. Here is the artwork:

Twenty Things An Artist Can Do To Stop Being Perfect
- Allow Fragments.
- Encourage the temporary, the coming and going of your practice.
- Create a good flow of energy - completion and throwing away being key daily elements.
- Create 100 scenes rather than a big narrative.
- Don't create unreachable aims, for example comparing your painting with one hanging in a major gallery.
- Instead think about an important work of art made in your front room, strip art of its context.
- Celebrate failure and success everyday.
- Think of art as a process.
- Think of art as recycling.
- Think of the imagination as a process.
- Scraps are like compost, keep noting them, until they create a flower bed.
- Creativity is not located in objects.
- Creativity is not located in other people.
- Creativity is not located in reviews.
- Who cares what other people think, do, make, respond etc. - it's you we're dealing with here.
- Don't archive other people's work.
- Put contradictory things together.
- Put matching things together.
- Put pointless things together.
- Put stupid things together.

Pop ArtWorks
Here is the fresh batch of Pop Art projects we've done these last few days. They are fresh out the "art-oven": crisp, juicy, refreshing. We took took Andy Warhol Endangered Species series and learned a few things about Pop Art along the way. Warhol used to spend lots of time in his house when he was in 3rd grade and his favourite things to do were drawing, listening to the radio, and collecting photos of famous people. The things he liked turned out to be the basis of his body of work. Little did he know he was going to be the most important figure in Pop Art history. What kind of artist are you going to be when you grow up?

David Park
This past week our project consisted on painting a portrait in the Bay Area Figurative Style. Its pioneer was David Park and we talked about his body of work and why he created this movement. We used color in a very different way, focusing on a color wash first, and then layering dry brushstrokes carefully in order to build our final portrait. It was was daunting, and then fun, and the results, as you can see, are stunning. Great work!!!!

About The Importance of Creativity
Quinn and Kaia's mom, Tara, recommended us to watch this little video of Sir Ken Robinson giving a talk at TED. Whether you are a parent, and educator, or an artist, I think you'll like some of the very interesting points he brings up. I love the fact he quotes Picasso: "All children are born artists, the problem is to remain artists as we grow up." So true!!!!! We hope you find it as inspiring as we did. Thanks Tara!!!
